Their brains are sponges

It amazes me everyday just how much kids really do absorb. We read books every night before bed for about a half hour and tonight this was one that we read:
We haven't read this book for a good few months but yet Rowen still knew most every word but 2! Brandon would start each sentence and let Rowen finish it. We were in awe of just how much he knew. Every book we read he reads along and knows most all the words of each book we have, but tonight just really hit me how much they really are paying attention and listening to everything, even when they may not show it. I LOVED seeing how proud he was with himself for knowing the book!

  1. I will have to keep this in mind the next time I start reciting "Pajama Time" in my head to remind me that it is worth it, since we read to our girls every night before bed. "They might be stripey, or polka dot, but we can all pajammy in whatever we've got - it's Pajama Time!"

  2. Haha, yes, don't you love how they all get stuck in your head. Man, now I have it stuck in my head! Just wait until they have a show they like too and you get the theme song stuck in there:)

  3. Dear Melissa,
Thanks so very much for posting a notice about the book I wrote with my husband, Poisoned Profits. We embarked on that project because some of our grandchildren and many of their friends and neighborhood kids suffer from behavioral and other problems that used to be rare.
I'm wondering whether us parents and grandparents could 'band together' to voice our opinions more strongly about how toxified our children's world has become. Maybe we could form a national on-line community the way the Obama campaign did. What is your opinion about whether trying this might be worth the effort?
In the meantime, let me add that your three children are amazingly wonderful to see; and I admire your work in raising them.
    warm regards,
    Alice
